What does IPR stand for?
IPR is an acronym for Injury, Prevention & Recovery.
Executive Summary
In todays athletes, kids are training harder and more often than ever before. It’s now becoming the usual for kids 12 & under to compete in two or three sports at the same time, during the same season. On a regular basis, we come across youth soccer athletes who are competing in 3 or more full-length soccer games in just a short weekend. In each game, these young players run an average of 4 miles. In total, that’s over 12 miles in one weekend.
The Child Development Center states that “more than half of all sports injuries in children are preventable.”
Our Injury Prevention & Recovery (IPR) experts specialize in just that. The truth is, overtraining can result in an overuse injury, which is defined as micro-traumatic damage to bone, muscle, or tendon caused by repetitive stress without adequate time for recovery and reparation. Children are more susceptible to this type of injury than adults because of the presence of growth cartilage at the following three sites: the growth plate near the ends of long bones, the cartilage lining joint surfaces, and the point at which major tendons attach to bone. Because growth cartilage is pre-bone, it is more easily damaged by repetitive micro-trauma and, therefore, injury to this tissue may result in potentially serious consequences later in life.
Has anyone stopped to think about what the long term consequences might be for an overtrained and under treated athlete?
Over the past 17 years, our team of world-class trainers, physicians and professional athletes have been developing our trademarked secret known as “The IPR Process”. We’ve literally dedicated our lives to perfecting the process of injury prevention & recovery in athletes. But, whether competing recreationally or professionally, our process applies to all athletes of all sizes, ages & skill levels. In fact, our process applies to all of humanity.
We have a proven track record of success.
In 2013, 11 out of 11 of our professional NFL athletes were healthy throughout the entirety of that NFL season. They participated in every-game and many of them played over 1000 snaps, in total. In 2014, there was more of the same. However this time, there was 13 out of 13. In 2015, 13 out of 13 players, again. In 2016, 16 out of 16. Then, this past season in 2017, we posted our 1st injury, yet we still achieved 18 out of 19 players playing in every single game. These numbers are unprecedented.
With our proven process and a focus on youth athletes, we are now more dedicated than ever to bringing our much needed injury prevention services to all athletes at an affordable private-pay cost. For our injured but recovering athletes, we offer most all traditional & alternative physical therapy services, which is then medically billed to their insurance provider.
After years of research & development, we’re now ready to take our passion, knowledge & expertise to the masses.
Description of Business
IPR Sports Medicine Institute is a health and fitness company specializing in athletic performance, sports medicine, injury prevention & recovery. Established in 2018, under the direction of Ronnie Braxton and his team, IPR seeks to redefine sports medicine and its retroactive approach to the mental and physical health and well-being of competitive young athletes. Chronic overuse injuries have become more prevalent in youth athletes mainly due to a focus on one sport, an increase in the amount of time spent training for sports and a lack of off-season rest and recovery. Throughout the years, our expert medical staff and elite trainers have undoubtedly determined that the process of injury prevention is not only the most effective way to keep athletes on the field, but it’s also the number one contributor towards helping athletes to achieve optimum peak performance.
Our vision is to bring health & fitness to young athletes across the globe. We feel there’s a global need for clinics like ours to exist within every youth athletic facility in the world. Due to our focus on the health & fitness of young competitive athletes, we feel as though we’ve found our niche within a multi-billion dollar industry which continues to ignore what is clearly an overwhelming need.
Why choose IPR?
One of the ways we separate ourselves from the competition is by offering affordable, private-pay IPR membership packages. Our membership packages have been designed to appeal to elite athlete’s who are proactive in self-care and injury prevention. We also offer a variety of “a la carte” style, individual services which cater mostly to athletes in the post-injury recovery and rehabilitation stages. Many, if not all of these post-injury rehabilitation services qualify to be medically billed through patient insurance companies.
In general, the injury prevention side of sports medicine is mostly a private-pay service while the post injury & rehabilitation services are billable through patient insurance or third-party benefit plans. Decisions regarding payment for physical therapy services under insurance or third-party benefit plans are typically based on determinations about the medical necessity of the services provided.
Our Services
The IPR Process Membership Packages
Product Description: The IPR Process™ is our Trademarked method of injury prevention & recovery in athletes. Think of the IPR Process as an assembly line car wash. When your vehicle moves through various stages of the wash, there are important applications at each stage of the wash, which contribute to the overall quality of the wash. For example, first the car is sprayed with water. Next comes the soap and more water. Then the wax which is then followed by the rinse, and so on. During the 45 minute IPR full body recharge, athletes will progress through a series of timed recovery stations in which their bodies will be exposed to IPR’s prescribed set of Therapeutic Modalities & Techniques. This may include some of the following Therapies: Detoxification Therapy, Aquatic Therapy, Cryotherapy, Sports Therapy, Massage Therapy, Self Myofascial Release Therapy and Heat Therapy. When guided through the IPR Process by one of our Recovery Experts we can absolutely guarantee a physically and mentally healthier athlete, which in turn results in Peak Performance.

Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (mHBOT)
Product Description: Mild HBO therapy provides a highly effective way to increase the volume of oxygen in the blood and thus increase the many beneficial effects that oxygen has on the body. It allows the body to get the oxygen it needs to create ATP for energy and flush out the lactic acid that causes muscle fatigue. The elevated oxygen levels help athletes increase performance and recover more quickly after a workout. Increased oxygen delivery to the brain facilitates brain function, and enhances an athlete’s ability to make split-second decisions that could be a difference in the outcome of a game. The pressurized chamber in which athletes breathe pure oxygen, allows up to a tenfold increase in the oxygen level of the blood plasma and hemoglobin. The red blood cells become more malleable, increasing their ability to penetrate restricted blood vessels so that cells and tissues receive the oxygen they need to regenerate and heal. With hyperbaric treatment, a sprained ankle might recover in four days instead of eight; a bruised thigh could mend in one week, not three. Recovery time is reduced significantly, and athletes at all skill levels get back into play faster.
In addition to accelerating the healing process for athletes, hyperbaric therapy can be used in the treatment of the following conditions: Autism, ADD/ ADHD, Stroke, Anti-
aging, Alzheimer’s, Symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Lyme Disease, Fibromyalgia, Multiple Sclerosis, Post-Surgery, Migraine Headaches, Vascular Disease & Burns.
Currently, there are 15 categories of disorders treated with HBO that are approved for reimbursement by Medicare, Medicaid, and most 3rd party insurers, with some providing coverage for additional conditions.
In most hyperbaric centers, non-healing diabetic foot wounds constitute a major segment of the patient population. As a result, hyperbaric centers have evolved into specialty centers that serve two distinct populations:
Patients with non-healing wounds resulting from diabetes, vascular disease, infections, trauma, or complications of radiation treatment. Depending on the etiology of the wound, treatment may involve a wide range of technologies in addition to HBOT.
Patients without wounds, but with disorders that are responsive to HBOT.

The Graston Technique
Product Description: The Graston Technique is a patented form of manual therapy that uses stainless steel tools to perform muscle mobilizations. It is a kind of soft tissue mobilization used mainly by chiropractors, physical therapists/physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
How does it work?
You can think of the Graston Technique as a deeper, more intense version of manual therapy. Specially trained clinicians use specially designed Graston tools in two ways. First, to locate muscle knots or restrictions. They do this by running the tools over your skin to feel for fibrous or scar tissue that may be causing you pain or restricting your movement. Second, they use the tools to break up that tissue to restore mobility and function.

Medical Infrared Thermography (MIT)
Product Description: Medical Infrared Thermography, is a non-radiating technology that enables the detection and location of thermal abnormalities to be identified by increases or decreases in skin surface temperature. Thermography is commonly used in woman to detect early stages of breast cancer. It’s also used in a wide variety of other medical applications, ranging from sports medicine, surgery, neurology, oncology, of orthopedics and dermatology. MIT has a unique ability to enhance diagnostic measurements in a quick and non-invasive way.
In sports medicine, MIT is becoming one of the most popular methods of assessing skin temperature in an effort to identify risk factors and prevent future injuries in training and during competition. Athletes often suffer from overuse injuries, otherwise known as cumulative trauma disorders, which is tissue damage caused by repetitive demand over time. Overuse injuries, as well as several other pathophysiological injuries, cause inflammation and subsequent increases in skin temperature surrounding the affected region. As a result of this an increase in skin temperature, and disturbances to the normal anatomical symmetry occur and can be detected by our Certified Medical Thermograph Imaging Technicians.

Electrotherapy
Product Description: Electrotherapy uses an electrical machine that delivers electrical impulses to a patient’s body. This stimulation is done in order to promote and facilitate muscle healing and tissue regeneration. Not only is electrotherapy a popular modality in physical therapy, but can also be used by other rehabilitation practitioners because it has several numerous therapeutic benefits.
The use of electrotherapy has been supported by the American Physical Therapy Association because it has shown to provide the following:
- Prevention and cessation of muscular atrophy due to disuse
- Improved local blood circulation and flow
- Re-education of muscles using targeted stimulation
- Preserve and improve range of motion
- Management and reduction of pain (chronic, post-traumatic, and post-surgical acute)

Sports Physicals
With more than 46 million kids participating in sports each year, making sure your athlete is okay to play is the first step in getting ready for the big game. Did you know that 62 percent of all organized sports-related injuries happen during practices rather than games? Football, basketball, and soccer were found to be the top three sports where most injuries occur.Sports physicals are largely required by athletic leagues and schools − and for good reason. They raise awareness of any issues that may interfere with your child’s ability to participate in a sport.Your healthcare provider can identify areas that may be prone to injury and suggest tips and exercises to avoid future problems. What a Sports Physical Includes:
Physicians will check your athlete’s vitals, joints, and flexibility. They’ll also check your athlete’s vision and do a short fitness assessment to diagnose and recommend any possible limitations on physical activity. It’s not necessary for you to bring a vaccination record with you to receive a physical at IPR. However, please be aware that some states require your child’s immunization record before he or she can begin a new sport.Vitals check
We’ll check your child’s pulse and blood pressure to ensure proper vitals. We’ll also document his or her weight and height, since growth spurts and weight changes can place added stress on joints, muscles, and bones.Eye exam
An eye exam checks for proper vision and evaluates whether your child need prescription lenses or if his or her current prescription needs to be adjusted.Fitness assessment
Next we’ll examine your child’s heart, lungs, abdomen, ears, nose, and throat. We’ll check his or her cardiovascular system and recommending any limitations on physical activity.Joints and flexibility check
By testing your child’s strength, flexibility, posture, and joints, we can identify any areas that may be prone to injury as well as suggest potential exercises and tips to help build a healthier body.Medical history review
A medical history is just as important as a medical examination. Knowing about any past illnesses, surgeries, or conditions, such as asthma or chest pains, will help diagnose problems and prevent complications in the future.
